All shows
above are listed in ascending order, from date when first broadcast / transmitted.
Numbers in brackets, alongside each shows title, is the order
in which each programme was actually recorded. The running order was changed, in order to show, what was considered to be, the 'best' of the series first. |

I have
it on good authority (information given to me several years ago
now),
that Roger Hancock doesn't want this series screened, in any form,
ever! Roger is of the opinion that the shows were not particularly
good and
didn't show his brother at his best. Whilst I admire and respect what
he appears to be doing, in trying to protect our mate Tone, I still
think we as fans should be able to see these remaining shows and make
up our own minds as to what we may or may not think about the quality
of them. I've been lucky enough, as have many others by now, to have
seen six shows from this series and to have listened to several
others.
I agree this series of Hancock doesn't quite live up to the
quality of the BBCtv series, and thanks for that must surely go to
Galton
and Simpson's brilliant writing. However, I still find a laugh can
be had from most of them, and for all the right reasons. I personally
found
them fascinating viewing. I think most would agree, if I was to say,
It would be a great shame if we were to shuffle off this mortal coil
without first having the chance to see most, if not all, of what still
survives, in whoever's archive, before someone (maliciously) feels
the
need to wipe, mislay or throw in a skip more of our precious past TV
heritage / material. I, for one, can't wait to finally get a chance
to view the remaining seven shows from this series that, I hasten
to add, are still to find their way (accidentally) in to the public
domain.
I hope that one day Roger Hancock, or maybe even his son Tim, will
eventually allow us all a glimpse at some of Hancock's remaining /
surviving /
unreleased and unseen (since first broadcast), ATV series programme
footage. Sad as it may seem, and I can be sad at times, I dream of
the
day when this may come true. I also, on many occasions, have dreamt
of the day - when things might have turned out different - and someone,
a very dear friend (I don't know who, there were many of them - or
at least that's what I thought, and was lead to believe, from what
I've
read), would have walked into that lonely room in Aus, thousands of
miles away from home, and rescued our dear Tone from that fate worse
then..., that we all sadly have to live with from day to day and can
never forget. So come on Roger! Please let us have a look? All genuine
admirers of our dear Tone care too much for him to ever have a bad
word even enter our heads concerning him. There's too much gloom in
the world today. Please allow us that last little bit of (extra),
laughter that
you hold so dearly in your hands? Even if it only turns out to be one
more laugh... It would be most appreciated. |
