These movie
posters are from the US release of The Rebel, re-titled Call
Me Genius!, for the benefit of the US market. Hancock's film career
consisted of only five films; one as supporting player, two as the star,
and two as guest artist. Below are two of the posters for this film

Printed on paper stock. Before 1985 they were usually folded. After
1985 they were usually rolled.

|
History:
Traditionally, the one-sheet (OS) is the 'standard' size for movie
advertising in North America. The one-sheet is the most popular

Most new movie releases since 1985 were advertised using this size.

Type:
Printed on card stock and not normally folded.

|
History:
First used in the 1910s. They were discontinued in the mid 1980s. They
were used for special sized displays, and the artwork tended to
differ
slightly from the one-sheet for the same film. They're typically less
expensive than one-sheets, for the collector, and this size continues
to be a popular vintage amongst them.

The
above two movie posters were meant for distribution in the US. These
are of
a completely different design and size from those issued in the UK
for
The Rebel. You'll be able to see the UK Quad poster for The
Rebel here at The Cuttings soon! |

If you're
interested in purchasing / collecting either of the above US movie
posters,
then expect (realistically), to pay anything up to £100, for
either one, in very good condition. As I keep saying, It'll rather
depend on
the seller, as to how much you'll really have
to pay, of course. It goes without saying, again, that these posters
are rare items,
and to
find them at all, in any condition, will prove to be quite difficult.
You're not likely to find either in mint condition. |
