Here is Kenneth Williams' autobiography, the story of his life from his days as a child in the London of the 1930s to one of the country's most loved comedians.

Singapore barrack-room life during the last months of the Second World War; post-war repertory; his roles in revue and on the London stage of the 50s and 60s; his famous character roles in great radio shows such as Hancock's Half Hour and Round the Horne and as a panellist on Just a Minute; his friendships with people such as Ingrid Bergman, Maggie Smith, Stanley Baxter, Joe Orton and Noel Coward, and of course his starring roles in the now classic Carry On films - all these are described with great affection and insight.

By turns funny, conversational, reflective and informative, Just Williams is guaranteed to give enormous pleasure to his many fans.

Something happened on the way to heaven - Phil Collins - Released 1990 and now deleted
Virgin Records Ltd
Previously available on 7" Single, 3 track 12" Single & 3 track CD Single, as
VSC 1251
VS1251, VST1251 & VSCDT1251, respectively - all now deleted

Mr Phil Collins is (like most of us visiting The Cuttings, and indeed reading this), a huge fan of Hancock. He has done much, unbeknown to most, in the name of the lad for his fellow admires and is a long standing honorary member of the T.H.A.S.

Sides One and Two both contain:

1. Something happened on the way to heaven
(Produced by Phil Collins and Hugh Padgham)

2. I wish it would rain down (demo)
(Produced by Phil Collins)

The sleeve design on this Cassette Single, and indeed all other previous releases (on all formats) of Something happened on the way to heaven is dedicated to the lad himself. The track itself, as far as I know, is not. It certainly doen't mention him... and I have listened very hard!

TONY HANCOCK - Released 1990 and now deleted
Knight Records Ltd / Castle Communications PLC

Side One - The Blood Donor - Perhaps the best loved of all Hancock episodes. 'A pint, why that's very nearly an armful!' protests our public-spirited hero when he decides 'to give so others can live'. And, as with any ordinary bank, Hancock discovers that the deposit can be all-too-quickly followed by sudden withdrawal.

With: June Whitfield, Patrick Cargill, Hugh Lloyd, John Bluthal, Frank Thornton, Annie Leake

Side Two - The Radio Ham - 'Mayday! Mayday!' A motor yacht is holed beneath the waterline off the coast of Sierra Leone. The good news for the stricken vessel is that it's desperate messages have been picked up by a keen radio ham in England. The bad news is that it's the lad himself at the receiving end.

With: Patrick Cargill, Clive Dunn, Deryck Gyler, June Whitfield, John Bluthal, Frank Thornton, Annie Leake, Hugh Lloyd

PAUL MERTON IN... Galton & Simpson's

Now on audio for the first time, the acclaimed TV hit comedy in which Paul Merton combines with one of British television's most successful writing teams, Galton & Simpson, to recreate eight of their classic comedies.

Paul Merton takes the leading role, and the writers have revised the scripts - some having been written over 30 years ago - so that these much loved comedies are brought hilariously into the 1990s.

The Lift - Imagine being stuck in a lift with the most annoying person you have ever met! Paul Merton plays the most irritating stranger you could meet and when the lift gets stuck he is the first to lead the community singing!

Twelve Angry Men - Paul Merton plays the infuriating foreman of the jury in this vintage comedy from Hancock's Half Hour and he's determined to get justice however long it lakes. Tempers flare, fists are raised, verdicts are changed and friendships are made and broken.

Don't Dilly Dally - A classic from the Comedy Playhouse about a couple who are moving out of their rundown house - until the wife has second thoughts. Distraught Joyce locks herself in the bathroom and refuses to budge - even when the 'just-married' new occupants arrive with their furniture.

The Comedy Greats - Released 1998 and now deleted

It's the greatest laughter line-up of all time from BBC Radio 3's Turns of the Century. Tommy Cooper, Flanders and Swann, Max Wall, Beryl Reid, Stanley Holloway, Hylda Baker, Ken Dodd, Sandy Powell, Tony Hancock, Morecambe and Wise, Jimmy James, The Crazy Gang and many more.

Here they all are as Russell Davies, actor turned comic writer, introduces in verse a classic compilation of sketches and songs (including Noel Coward's Mrs Worthington) from over thirty of the most influential jesters of the twentieth-century.

Every one a legend in their own laughtime.
